Sunday was cinema day for us! Me and love still had a birthdaygift to give to the little guy, so Sunday was the perfect day to do so. Luckily the movie he wanted to watch was one we definately didn't mind watching either, Puss in Boots in 3D ♥ So off we went to the movies, bought our popcorn, baconcrisps, coke, ice tea ready for a Sunday afternoon with the best little guy ever ♥
Then 90 minutes and some "oooooooh's" later (you'll get it after you watch the movie..) it was all over and we headed out into the sunshine again, heading to the inlaws for dinner!
The best part if you ask me being the dessert for the evening, which was "fastelavensboller" ofcourse, which are sweet buns cut in half, filled with whipped cream, covered in icing sugar and then eaten with jam on for those who want ♥ Delicious!!

Spring decided to show it's face this weekend, and I can tell you I'm definately not complaining about it! I've been home sick from work all week, so blue skies and a little sun shining through the windows made things a little better ♥ And with the best little guy in the world coming over to visit it was a good Friday!
We watched Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, had his choice for dinner which was tacos along with homemade guacamole, played Disney monopoly and finished the evening on the couch with some sweets and the scary ending of the Harry Potter movie. After that it was bedtime for the little one and series watching on my laptop for me ♥

Yesterday morning started with chocolate-maple milkshake for breakfast infront of the tv with the rest of the house, ofcourse I forgot to take pictures of it before I finished the whole thing! The rest of the day kind of flew by, watching A Gifted Man, falling asleep in my bed again and doing some "spring cleaning".
For yesterdays late dinner I made this spicy mexican style pork chop with mash, homemade rolls and broccoli ♥

Wine, cupcakes and mothers

Another nice weekend has passed, even though it was abit slowed down by me being sick for a change.. On Saturday we were invited over to some friends of ours for dinner, wine and beer. None of us had ever been there before, so it was great to see their new house(well....not THAT new, it's 200 years old!!) in the middle of nowhere, really really cozy with an old fireplace, stairs that squeak and the woods right outside the window ♥

Sunday was mothersday as most people probably know, so we had a small family dinner at our house gathering the closest. Me and sis took care of dinner and dessert for the evening so mummy and grandmother could just relax, Coq Au Vin was on the menu for the evening with apple and peanutbutter cupcakes ♥
Both things were completely new to all of us, the dinner had never been made before or tasted by any of us and same for the cupcakes, but being the amazing cooks and bakers we are everything turned out really good!! Nice, relaxed evening to celebrate the best mother in the world! ♥

Needles and Pins

Today I left work early for my appointment at the local healthclinic, time for vaccines! It kind of feels like the trip to Asia is finally starting and seems more real now that we started with the "practical" stuff. Yesterday love got it over and done with and today it was my turn, easy peasy lemon squeezy! Three needles, one hour and lots of new information later it was all over and done with and everything went fine, well..apart from that it took quite a chunk out of our savings.
We are going to be travelling to Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, depending on how long the money lasts and where our plans take us once we're over there. The shots I needed were Hep.A and B, Tyfoid and a combination vaccine which covers Diphtheria, Tetanus and Pertussis.
Next week I have my second appointment, just one shot..but not any less expensive!

Cozy Comfy

My weekend ended nice and cozy, with a couple of films, leftover pizza and delicious chocolates I stayed under a warm blanket Saturday evening and on Sunday me and love drove over to my sisters place. The guys, which would be my love, sisters love and the best boy in the world went out walking in the woods enjoying all the snow. While me and sis along with two lazy black kittys stayed inside, enjoying the view of the snow while enjoying even more being warm under blankets and with the fire burning in the fireplace ♥
We put on a movie and prepared some waffle batter for when the guys came home, so obviously later on we all got comfy on the couch with fresh, warm waffles and hot chocolate. Quite a perfect Sunday ♥

Friday in the Kitchen

Relaxing, relaxing and a tiny bit more relaxing... That's what my Friday consisted of, still feeling abit week, tired and sickish so I spent the day on the sofa with nice company from my cats while the rest of the house went off to work ♥
I watched a couple of films, some series and let the hours pass until it was getting close to dinner time. Pizza was on the menu ofcourse, perfect for Fridays!
After the pizza was well on it's way to being digested I continued the evening in the kitchen, using the leftover pizza dough I decided to try out a couple of things just to use it. So if you ever have some leftover pizzadough maybe you can try out one of these!

First thing I made was this peanutbutter and jelly pleated "pastry", I served it along with ice-cream and the whole thing became abit too much for me. Don't know if it was that I was still full from the pizza, the choice of jam or something else! Maybe it's better the second time I taste it this evening..!

Second thing I made was this foccacia tasting pastry, with melted butter, olive oil, garlic and oregano this definately turned out ALOT better than the first "project" and is already all gone.

Wholemeal Rolls

Once again I have been on sickleave from work, I've been home since Monday feeling sick, having stomach pains, headaches and what not! The first couple of days were pretty much spent infront of the tv or at my desk with my laptop watching series, reading traveling tips for Asia, reading blogs and doing chores here and there. After a while it starts to get pretty boring doing that ALL day, so yesterday I decided to make homemade rolls, ofcourse the "healthy" kind.
I hadn't baked anything else than cakes and other sweets for a looong time, and seeing how nice they turned out I have to share the recipe if anyone is interested! They're perfect to have with dinner, for breakfast, lunches or basically whenever you want ♥

Wholemeal rolls:
Makes 22

8 tbs butter
3 dl water
3 dl milk
1 packet dry yeast
1 ts salt
6 dl wholemeal flour
10 dl white flour
100 gr oats
milk for brushing
various toppings (oats, poppy seeds, sesame seeds etc.)

First melt the butter and add the milk and water, heat it up to around 37 degrees(body temp.) and add yeast. Add all the flour and salt and mix into a nice dough(it's supposed to be abit sticky, but not so sticky its stuck to the countertop).
Put the dough in a bowl with a kitchen towel ontop and let it raise for 45 minutes, meanwhile heat the oven to 50 degrees.
After the 45 minutes have passed, roll out the dough and share into 22 equally sized pieces, roll these pieces into rolls and place onto pans with baking sheets. Brush all rolls lightly with milk and sprinkle the toppings ontop.
Put all rolls in the oven on 50 degrees to raise another 15 minutes, after that take out the rolls, heat up the oven to 220 degrees and put the rolls back in for 15 minutes.

Let them cool off for a while and enjoy! ♥

Friday Saturday Sunday

Weekend came and weekend left...all over in what felt like a single day. Anybody else who votes for 3-day weekends??
My weekend probably passed quite quick as I didn't spend much time sitting around, well..apart from Friday which consisted of tv-series, homemade pizza and some pampering while enjoying having the whole house to myself ♥ When Saturday came I started it with a delicious breakfast as always, I need my weekly dose of eggs which I never bother to take time to make for breakfast during the week. After an hour or two relaxng with a cup of teas infront of the tv the day could start.
In the evening we were celebrating my brother inlaws 30th birthday, which was all a surprise, so 12 of his closest family and friends all sneaked there way in to Oslo and headed towards Hard Rock Cafè for a surprise birthday dinner.
Everything went well, everyone enjoyed themselves and I think he was infact quite surprised! So after a couple of glasses of red wine, a delicious hickory burger, chocolate mousse for dessert, helium voices, birthday song singing and talking we each went our seperate ways.

While some went home, some of us went back to their house for a little "afterparty" where a couple more people showed up happy to join the celebration. We drank, made silly "now you're old" jokes, drank some more, ate popcorn, danced around and everyone finally landed in the beds and sofas around the house ♥ I think we all could agree it was a good evening and night!
Slightly hungover we crawled out of bed on Sunday and spent most of the day on the sofa feeling sorry for ourselves, eating birthday carrot cake and rehydrating ourselves! The weekend ended with Sunday dinner at the inlaws, all of us more tired on Sunday than we started with on Friday...

Dino Sprinkles

The weekend is almost over and so is my sickleave from work, tomorrow means back to work and freezing my butt off getting there in the morning! I've had a nice quiet and alcohol-free weekend since I'm still getting better and also on antibiotics for a couple of more days.
Yesterday I made myself the best breakfast(and also the most fattening I think....) in a long time, which was a stack of three french toast along with maple syrup between each slice and a whole lot on top with some yummy berries ♥ What I had with it was abit healthier at least, a cup of blueberry yoghurt with more berries like blueberries, blackberries, rasberries, redcurrants and blackcurrants ♥

At 4pm we were invited over to my sister to celebrate mine and love's nephew 7th birthday, in other words the best boy in the world's birthday! Almost the whole family was there, uncles, aunts, grandfather, step-grandmother, cousins and even a dog and the three cats of the house.
We had hotdogs, the kids played while the "grown-ups" talked, had chocolate cake with mini-dinos ontop, tea and coffee and ofcourse opening of the little guys gifts ♥
Me, my mum and love ended up staying there til 10 in the evening, talking, me playing with our nephew and his new toys and having a nice time ♥

Once Upon a Time

A short update from today, it has been a nice, quiet and relaxed day for me. Still on sickleave with pneumonia and bronchitis from work, so I slept late and got up to see it was actually nice and sunny outside(even though it was still -6...)! So I enjoyed a long yummy breakfast in the living room enjoying the sunshine coming through the windows and it looked like my cat was enjoying the view too ♥
The rest of the day has been spent doing this and that, cleaning abit here and there and catching up with some episodes of the series Once Upon a Time, perfect if you like fairytales! All of a sudden it's time to go to sleep, sick people need rest you know!

I have decided to catch up abit with my blogging, so I'm turning back the time to 2011 again (9th desember to be more accurate) and I'm posting more pictures from when we had friends over from Malta for a week ♥
If not for anyone else, I know I want to have the whole week in photos here, this is sort of my diary anyways!

The second day of their stay was a Friday and we had a whole day in Oslo planned along with consert tickets booked months earlier. We started with the Vikingship Museum in Bygdøy, where not even I had been before, probably because I'm not overly interested in vikings, but I love some of their carving techniques and once we were there it was actually fun to read a little more about them. After that we had quite a long walk past the kings castle(ALL tourists have to see that!), some shops here and there, we passed St.Hanshaugen, Hausmania and saw alot of fun street art along the way.
After Mr.Hili had gotten his LP shopping over and done with at Neseblod, we went off to Risbolle Thai restaurant to meet my mummy for a birthday dinner ♥ The food was as always delicious and everyone enjoyed it!

Before we split up for the night, we all sat down for a pre-consert drink at the bar People's which right next door to the consert venue. Well everyone else but me had beer and I had a drink, being right next door to the consert we could even pay attention to when the qeue was building up and it was time to go! The night ended amazing with two great bands, Pain of Salvation which I had neither heard of or seen live before and ofcourse the main band Opeth which were entertaining on stage as always ♥

This entire jungle is a house of death!

Lying around all day has given me way too much time to catch up with movies I've downloaded and series I watch. The last couple of days I've watched these three films, perfect for how I've been feeling, easy movies with not too much happening but just entertaining enough to pay attention.. My favourite out of the three has to be The Devil Wears Prada even though Horton hears a who was a very cute film too ♥

The weekend passed as quickly as always and yes I know it's already Tuesday today.. Since Friday I have been lying in bed or on the sofa sick with fever, headaches, a bad cough and everything else you can think off all at once! So in other words my weekend was a quiet one with not much happening, well apart from a really nice cozy evening at my sisters for a girls night to celebrate her 25th birthday. She had prepared some tapas like fetacheese dip, hummus, tzatziki, garlic stuffed olives, marinated cheese, homemade Indian chicken patties and pitabread to eat it all with ♥
A couple of hours passed quickly with us girls catching up, talking about this and that and enjoying the food. Ofcourse she had prepared something sweet to end with too, chocolate cupcakes with pink buttercream frosting which were delicious ♥
Katta, one of our friends had brought along her own sweets, she had baked brownies and filled them with a peanutbutter cream, yummy!!

Since I've had no energy at all and just moved from bedroom - sitting room - bedroom I haven't been doing much else than watching series and movies, Sunday evening me and my mum watched a Woody Allen movie together called Midnight in Paris. Both me and my mum have lately discovered that we both love Woody Allen's movies, they're easygoing, funny and sarcastic with not too much of the hollywood drama.
Watching that film made me daydream about beautilful Paris, I've never been there, but I deifinately have to go one day ♥
How can you not fall in love with Paris when it looks like this??

Whiskers and Whisky

Long time no posting...! Last week, the days just flew by, I started a my new job in a kindergarden last Tuesday and already during the first day I got asked to work fulltime instead of the original 70% that they hired me to work which is great!! More money in the bank for travelling ♥ The rest of the week was just getting to work, home again, making some delicious dinners and relaxing on the couch watching all the series that started up again after christmas.

When the weekend came, it was already fullybooked..well except for Fridays which usually is my relaxed day during the weekend where we made homemade pizzas, watched tv, ate cookies and ended the evening quite early!
Saturday we were invited over to a party where my love is from and after getting talked into going, we went over and got..nicely put, slightly tipsy. Meeting friends we hadn't seen since moving to Malta again and also meeting some nice new people too, we had a succesful evening ♥

Obviously being quite tired, on Sunday we slept late and had to force ourselves to getting out of bed at around 2pm... We were going to have a family celebration of my sisters 25th birthday with her favourite dinner and the best chocolate cake in the world ♥ Everything was delicious, she was happy with here presents and we ended the evening playing a new game my grandmother brought called Sequence ♥

Twinkle, Sparkle and BANG

The last few days have not so surprisingly been filled with even more delicious food, lazy days on the sofa, watching a series here and there and watching quite alot of the Travel Channel ♥
I made a delicious tortellini with bacon, chorizo, lots of garlic, spinach and cream for dinner one of the days, and my mum finally got to make a dish she has been talking about for a while. It's an argentinian twist to the Norwegian fårikål, which is basically cabbage, pepper and lam meat cooked together.
The Argentinian one has alot more flavour and I have to say that I prefer it any day over the "traditional" version, this one is made with red cabbage, red wine, bacon, some spices and served with rice fried together with onion ♥ YUM!!!

I've also finally been able to "unpack" my xmas presents and put them in their place, I got lots of nice things like a Moleskine Travel Journal, a mosquito net for a double bed to bring for mine and loves Asia trip, a pretty heart necklace, a couple of bottles of drinks, a chocolate cookbook(which has already been in use), Pukka tea, chocolates, a new calendar, a gift card for the cinema and lots of other nice things along with money which has gone straight to savings ♥

For new years eve, me and love had a relaxing evening at home, we slept late, made a delicious dinner together with my mum and before midnight we drove over to Drøbak which is a little town by the sea to watch the fireworks ♥

Half Baked

After Christmas I have had quite some relaxed days, on christmas day we slept late and then drove over to my sister to talk, relax, eat some non-xmas food and ofcourse some dessert....The dessert for that evening was my sisters homemade chocolate chip cookies made as a sandwich with some Half Baked Ben & Jerry's icecream in the middle ♥ After the storm(Dagmar) here in Norway, on our way home that evening we found a couple of obstacles in the way, for example the tree in the picture below, it had gotten blown over, so me, love and a friend of ours had to get out of the car and spend 15minutes dragging, pushing and pulling it off the road so we could pass with the car...A little excersize after all that icecream wasn't all that bad I guess!

The next day it was the day which is always booked by my grandmother, each year, on the 26thdecember, she invites family and friends over for a huge and delicious christmas lunch! And each year it's just as delicious, with lots of food and drinks to choose from and with our little family being gathered ♥

Eve of Christmas

Christmas has come and gone once again, this year we celebrated Christmas Eve together with the inlaws at my sisters and her boyfriends house for the very first time. Usually we have spent christmas together at my mums house, gathering the little family we have ♥
We also agreed that this year everyone would pitch in with the food as our family has different traditions then the inlaws, so we had both turkey, roasted ribside with crackling, brusselsprouts with bacon, waldorfsalad, sourcabbage and red cabbage, boiled potatoes, pork sausage AND pork patties!! Now if thats not enough food I don't know what is....

The evening was relaxed without any stress and everyone enjoying themselves, including the three cats of the house and the gigantic but sweet dog too ♥ For dessert ofcourse we had the traditional ricecream with cherry sauce, coffee and while opening all the presents we had different homemade(and storebought) cakes, cookies and chocolates and even more coffee or red wine in my case..! All in all a really nice relaxed evening, with amazing food, great presents and surrounded by almost the whole family ♥

Eat, drink, relax

The days leading up to Christmas eve are just as nice as Christmas eve itself if you ask me, all the last preperations are being done, the food is being planned, the last presents are bought and wrapped and then you can just sit down and wait for the big day to come! ♥
This year I don't really think I've had time to realise that christmas was right round the corner until it was over, but I've enjoyed it anyways.

A couple of days before I had tried to bake my first ever christmas bread, which was a total FAIL! The bread never rised and even after letting them stay in the oven way longer than they were supposed to, I cut into them and they were still just dough in the middle!! I hate it when I'm looking forward to eating something delicious and homemade it I just have to throw the whole thing in the bin.

The evening before christmas eve which is called "lille julaften" here in Norway(no idea if it has any specific name in English), our family usually gathers for a meal together, this year we had my mums cousin from Denmark and her boyfriend over for christmas, always nice with more people around christmas! So this time we had a 2-course dinner, we started with warm ricepudding which is served with sugar, cinnamon and butter to melt in the middle ♥ After that we had "spekemat" which is different types of meats along with flatbrød, sour cream, scrambled eggs and potatosalad ♥
Later in the evening, we let my nephew open his christmas presents from our family since he was spending christmas eve with his mother this year, from me and love he got a carving knife, to see his face when he saw that he got his very own knife from us was priceless ♥ The evening ended with the usual, cakes, coffee and a couple of rounds of a game called gruble.
